What Is Former WWE Diva Lilian Garcia Doing Today?
For more than a decade and a half, Lilian Garcia was an integral part of WWE programming. Primarily utilized as a ring announcer, she also took part in several of the company’s storylines, including one with super-heavyweight wrestler Viscera. She was also known for her powerful singing voice as she regularly sang the national anthem before shows, as pointed out in her official WWE biography. However, that all ended in August 2016 when the veteran on-air performer announced that she was leaving the company in order to take care of her sick father.
Garcia has made occasional guest appearances since her departure from the promotion, but aside from that, she has kept herself busy in a number of other ways. Fortunately for longtime WWE fans, one of those endeavors has allowed her to interview many of her former colleagues in the wrestling business, thus somehow allowing her to remain involved in the world of sports entertainment. So what exactly has Lilian Garcia been up to since her time as a WWE diva came to an end?
Lilian Garcia hosts a podcast and still works as a ring announcer
As described on her official website, Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia is a podcast that offers listeners an “all-access pass to human interest stories with your favorite athletes and entertainers.” Being that professional wrestlers can be considered athletes and entertainers, it’s no surprise that Garcia has interviewed many present-day WWE Superstars, including Mustafa Ali, Bianca Belair, Lacey Evans, and Braun Strowman, as well as retired divas such as Michelle McCool and Molly Holly.
Garcia has also spoken candidly about pressing issues on Chasing Glory, as one episode from 2020 saw her discuss the Black Lives Matter movement in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death. Two weeks before that, she hosted another emotional episode as she interviewed ex-WWE wrestler JTG, who paid tribute to his late tag teammate, Shad Gaspard, shortly after his drowning death in May 2020.
Aside from her podcast work, Garcia still introduces competitors as they prepare to do battle but is now doing so in the non-scripted world of mixed martial arts. As noted by the South China Morning Post, the former WWE diva will be returning to work for the Professional Fighters League on April 23, 2021, following a lengthy hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.
