What Happened To WWE Diva Kelly Kelly?

She was the girl so nice, they named her twice. During the “Divas Era” of women’s wrestling in WWE, Kelly Kelly was one of the more prominent female talents in the company. As documented by Bleacher Report, she was only 19 years old when she made her debut for Vince McMahon’s promotion in 2006 as part of the ECW brand, where she was mostly utilized in non-wrestling roles. As she gradually improved in the ring, she became a mainstay of WWE programming, reaching the peak of her career in 2011 when she was booked to win the Divas Championship — a title she held for 104 days. However, it was just one year later when she left the company after suffering a neck injury.

In the years that followed, Kelly (aka Barbie Blank in real life) was briefly married to former NHL defenseman Sheldon Souray. She was also part of the cast of the E! reality series WAGS from 2015 to 2018, and she has dabbled a bit in acting. As she explained in a video on WWE’s YouTube channel, her stint on WAGS helped her gain traction as an Instagram model and influencer. However, she doesn’t seem to have closed the door on her wrestling career despite the fact it’s been nine years since her last full-time stint in the business.

Occasional WWE appearances, film debut, and engagement

Speculation regarding a possible in-ring return for Kelly started in February 2017 when she was interviewed on an episode of Monday Night Raw. Close to a year later, she made the first of several one-off appearances for WWE as the 19th of 30 entries in the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match. She also took part in the battle royal at the Evolution pay-per-view later in 2018 and made a second women’s Royal Rumble appearance in 2020, per Daily DDT.

Kelly also made history on the “Raw Reunion” special episode of Monday Night Raw in July 2019 as she became WWE’s first-ever female 24/7 Champion. As is often the case with this title, Kelly didn’t hold on to it for long, as she lost the belt just minutes later to fellow Divas Division alum Candice Michelle, as recalled by TheSportster.

Aside from her occasional returns to WWE programming, Kelly made her film debut in 2020’s Disturbing the Peace, where she played a character named Amanda. She also took to her Instagram on May 30, 2020, to share a lengthy post celebrating her engagement to boyfriend Joe Coba.
